Vote Toomey for US Senate

You log onto YouTube to watch Grumpy Cat or listen to “Closer” by Chainsmokers. You likely will be assaulted with a political add first, and there is an excellent chance that add will focus on either Katie McGinty or Pat Toomey, two candidates for the US Senate. While both candidates seem to be accusing each other of the same downfalls- catering to Wall Street while neglecting to fight for the everyday Pennsylvanian- there are specific, unbiased reasons why all voters should consider voting for Pat Toomey.
For one, Toomey will fight for PA jobs. He has already worked tirelessly to fight for PA workers, and he will not quit when re-elected. For example, Toomey engaged in bipartisan work to create the JOBS Act, a law which helped up and coming businesses break free from regulations that were harming PA growth. Toomey has also fought against EPA over-regulation that has suffocated PA coal miners under overbearing regulations.
In the same spirit of protecting a family’s income, Toomey has fought to protect taxpayers. He supports closing special-interest loopholes and lowering tax rates for all Americans, letting you keep more of the money you make. A crucial part of lowering taxes is decreasing how much money the government spends, as the more money they waste the more money they need. Toomey has fought against earmarks which allows senators and congressmen to benefit their home states on national dimes, with “pork” projects such as the $693,000 spent on beef improvement research in Missouri and Texas being a horrible display of wasted money. Toomey has helped to cut down on this reckless spending to fight for our interests and pocketbooks.
Another area where Toomey fights to protect Pennsylvanians is by working to end sanctuary cities, municipalities where politicians prohibit local law enforcement officers from working with federal immigration officers. Violent criminals are allowed back on the street so they are not deported. Recently, a criminal released from custody under Philadelphia’s sanctuary policy was re-arrested for raping a child- yet only one of the two candidates running for US Senate is against sanctuary cities.
Toomey also is very passionate about our veterans. In response to the scandal at the Department of Veteran Affairs, Toomey co-sponsored the Veterans' Access to Care through Choice, Accountability, and Transparency Act of 2014 to give veterans flexibility on where they receive medical care. The law also authorized an additional $10 billion to better veterans’ access to care. In addition, Pat sponsored legislation, which was then signed into law by President Obama, that made it easier for veterans to travel and visit national war memorials. He has fought for the men and women who have fought for us.
One interesting line of work Toomey has engaged in is efforts to combat Alzheimer’s disease. Toomey serves as the co-chairman of a group that is fighting effortlessly to bring awareness to Alzheimer’s disease. In addition, Toomey co-sponsored the Alzheimer’s Accountability Act which requires the National Institutes of Health to provide Congress the best estimate on funding needed to treat and prevent Alzheimer’s by 2025.
Overall, one of Toomey’s greatest strengths in his ability to reach across the aisle and work with democrats to find real solutions to real problems and support vulnerable groups in America. Breaking through political barriers and going past your party to work with politicians from the opposing side is a sign of patriotism and level-headedness, and a trait we should want in all our senators.
Toomey has been endorsed by many notable groups, a sign of how much respect he has earned. He has been endorsed by the National Federation of Independent Business, the Fraternal Order of Police, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
